When boys grow up in their teenage years they like to act tough. Whilst when they were six or seven they might cry at a cut or bruised knee, by the time they are around twelve or thirteen they’ll probably pretend that it doesn’t hurt if their friends are anywhere around them.
It may actually hurt but they like to give the impression that they are too strong for it to hurt. It sounds funny when you hear it but many men will be able to relate to wanting to look tough.
Often men will want to appear strong as they grow older too, though if something hurts them may a bit more honest whilst trying to stop themselves from wincing. Being tough is often seen as cool by teenagers and as I’m sure you’ll know from songs about growing up being cool is high on their list of priorities. Every kid wants to be cool.
